Because we have still a bad engine (HTML) behind it which is not extandable and really small. OK Javascript can do the trick but only with a lot of code for a quite small effect. So Google will loose a lot when a real solution to replace HTML system arrive (SILVERLIGT , SVG, MOONLIGHT, FLASH, gone on the good way for that) The WEB is really old and I pretty sure that we will have soon a web revolution.
